The route Pinakates-Kala Nera was one of the main connection corridors of the mountainous area of Western pelion with the coastal zone. The distance covered by the route is longer than the other two routes of the area, the central cobbled streets from Vyzitsa and Milies to Kala Nera.
The first part of the route, from Pinakates to the Tzavala ravine, offers an intersting landscape variety and a rich vegetation. On the long downhill slope from the settlement of Agios Athanasios to Kala Nera we will find a succession of orchards and olive groves.
