Milies – Koropi

Our hike starts from the beautiful town square of Milies and goes downhill, using the old but well-maintained cobbled streets of the village. In rainy days, despite the mild slope, we need to be careful to the slippery pavement. Gradually, the vegetation becomes thicker and the stone-paved path finally turns into an earthy alley. Just before arriving to the chapel of Agios Ioannis, we go downhill until we cross the main road.

Just opposite, we find the continuation of the cobbled path. It takes us almost immediately to the crossing with another trail, coming from Kala Nera. Only a few meters lower, we can see the beautiful chapel of Panagia. Soon we arrive at the banks of a ravine, where the vegetation consists of riparian forest species and other water-demanding bushes. We cross the river by going over a small stone bridge.

Then, we move uphill on the well-indicated trail until we find the main road again (Kala Nera-Milies). On our right hand-side and on the other side of the street we can see the sign which shows the next section of our route.

We walk on a well built cobbled path, narrow at first but wider and even nicer a little later. Then, we find a concrete road and we follow it. Another trail section takes us uphill, towards the rural settlement of Palatia.

It’s worth spending some time to see the nice and well-preserved houses, which probably gave their name to this village, since Palatia means palaces.
For the next 1.4k we walk on dirt roads taking us to the last stone-paved section of the trail. Finally, we arrive at Koropi, next to the church of Agios Ioannis Theologos.
