Koropi – Afetes

The hiking route from Koropi to Afetes begins at the centre of Koropi, beside the church of Agios Ioanis. For the first 1200m we follow the main road to Argalasti, until we find a large bridge. We cross over it and then, we continue our hike on the cement road on our left hand-side. After 500m and on our right hand-side, we walk on a dirt road, which ends in front of the small cottage. Then, we go left, following an alley crossing an olive grove. This alley ends after 670m.

The next section of our route is on an earth path, what remained from the old mule track used in the past to connect Koropi with Zervochia. Even though this part of the trail is not so well-maintained, as the vegetation growth is rather fast, it is still easy for us to follow. After we go through a ravine, we walk uphill, swerving on the slopes, and we pass soon a small hut. Next to this we reach an alley coming from Zervochia, and by following it, we reach the main road of the village.

Zervochia is a small settlement, located in the heart of an olive grove area. Although the village is almost abandoned today, we can still see the large yet empty buildings which reveal the intense agricultural activity of the past.

The road on our right hand-side takes us at the beginning of a short trail section. This trail leads us uphill, towards another olive grove until we find another dirt road after 250m. We now follow multiple dirt roads which dived the olive fields in properties. Finally, we arrive at the church and main fountain of the settlement of Afetes.
