Agios Lavrentios – Agios Vlasios

The route Agios Lavrentios – Agios Vlasios starts from the square of the village Agios Lavrentios with the impressive monumental fountains. We climb a well-maintained cobbled path that leads to a crossroad with a fountain. With a cement road, we pass next to the summer camp of the Diocese of Demitriados and end up on the asphalt road, close to the monastery of Agios Lavrentios. We walk on this road to the right, until its first big maneuver.

There, we see signs to Agios Vlasios and Agios Georgios. We follow a small alley which immediately becomes an earth, yet clean path. We traverse a slope dressed with tall shrub of Mediterranean vegetation. After a small spring, we reach the large Koufala ravine, where we see the multiple mouths of the Koufala spring.

We ascend slightly and reach the chapel of Agios Ioannis, which is built on an important spring. The big springs of Koufala and Agios Ioannis feed the villages of Agios Lavrentios and Agios Vlasios and irrigate the estates of this mountain slopes.

From Agios Ioannis, we follow an alley guided by the water channel and soon we reach the fork of the paths to Agios Vlasios and Agios Georgios. The route to Agios Georgios is described on the page Agios Lavrentios-Agios Georgios.

From the fork, we descend to a wide path next to a ditch and reach a stone-built farmhouse with a vertical watermill impeller (running an electrical generator ?). Below lies a nice estate with apple trees and other fruit trees. We pass over the property and enter a path that descends to a narrow cement road, serving a house. With the cement road we reach the asphalt.

We descend on the asphalt for 310 m and enter a good cobbled path that brings us to the center of Agios Vlasios.
